While photographing a Virginia Rail a couple of juvenile Sora Rails scurried through the scene, I was not quick enough to photo them. Then there was this sudden appearance of a young snipe poking its head out of the reed bank until it retreated because of noise being made by approaching people on the boardwalk.
The orange bill of this Virginia Rail is accentuated by the shine of the morning sun as the light hits the floor of the wetland.
