Mountain Grizzly on the great divide
Taken from the side of the Yellowhead highway where it snakes through a high mountain pass across the great divide of the headwaters of the rivers that flow east and west across the continent. Jasper Park.
Black bear

Medicine Lake
A high mountain lake on the Maligne River above Maligne Canyon on the road to Malign Lake, taken from the boat launch access road where I ate my lunch. Jasper Park.
Osprey's View
Ospreys have built their nest in the spectacular mountain setting of Medicine Lake. The road to Maligne Lake runs up the opposite shoreline in the distance. Jasper Park.

An Osprey can jut be seen on its nest overlooking Medicine Lake with high mountains for a backdrop. Jasper Park.
Parking Lot Raven
The parking areas along the Icefields parkway all seem to have a resident Raven apparently living off the tidbits left by tourists, this one hangs out at the Howse Pass and Saskatchewan River lookout.

Rocky Mountain Sheep
As ususal Rocky Mountain sheep hang out near the Yellowhead in Jasper Park, these guys were blocking traffic before the Parks truck came along and moved them off the road.

Maligne Lake Road
On a drive out to the west coast I decided on a side trip up to Maligne Lake for my lunch stop, the fire damage from last year was extensive
Juvenile Rocky Mountain Sheep
This young one seemed quite at home on the rocky cliff eating dried grass (I guess it had no choice)
Its always good to stop for breaks on the 1600 km drive out to Prince Rupert so the opportunity presented by a small group of sheep on a ledge overlooking the Yellowhead highway in Jasper Park had to be taken, when I stopped I was the only person there, it took about 5 minutes for the crowds to form!
Final shot
We were skunked on our final morning in Jasper so when passing the dump on our way back to check out of the hotel there was a decision to stop to photograph the coyotes, but I was attracted by a commotion going on with the ravens and upon investigation found this. The moral of the story; when your skunked, go to the dump.

Ice Fields
View of the Athabasca Glacier from the Ice Fields Parkway while we ate lunch. From the snowfield on top of the mountain to the right, melt water flows to three oceans, the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic.
