We arrived at an area on the salmon stream where there were two viewing stands, we were assigned the "lower", when we arrived we were met by this black bear who was fishing in the stream. The creek flow was low enough that we didn't need to use the stand we were assigned, we set up below them.
After the black bear left we had a long wait of several hours before our next bear encounter, meanwhile anything that moved was the subject of intense photographic scrutiny, like this dipper who had found a nice salmon egg to eat.
Looking downstream, from beneath the viewing stand where we had "staked out" our positions, the light got quite harsh at times.
