    Harrassment

A family group of Coyotes move off over Big Lake after having been chased by an off-leash dog. Lois Hole Park has become a large off leash dog park to the detriment of the wildlife that the loose running dogs harass and to the walking trails that have become littered with dog feces.

  • The glance

    The glance

When fleeing a coyote will usually risk a quick look behind. This was no exception when we surprised each other by coincidentally choosing to occupy the same space at the same time, it fled and I prepared my camera expecting this look. It didn't disappoint and the backwards glance while turning made a great action shot. The coyote did not feel too threatened as it stopped for a short time and posed for a few photos before finally running off. Lois Hole Park, St Albert.

  • Deja Vu

    Deja Vu

This doesn't happen very often in wildlife photography, pretty much the same spot, more or less the same time of day, and likely the same Coyote, as the one I took a photo of a week ago, got a little closer this time, and didn't lose the dog either.

A (probably) mating pair of Coyotes hang out on the ice during a warm break of the frigid winter weather. Looks like we are due for some babies in the spring.

    The hunt

The barley harvest started today in our area, Zena spotted this fox hunting for mice on the freshly harvested field while we were walking the dogs, it took off but I returned with my camera and was able to get some long range shots in the falling light. (crop)
