Pastoral scene
Three pairs of Canada Geese relax on a "greening up" field adjacent to the Big Lake flood plain. Sturgeon County.
Turf war
A Canada Goose buzzes a nesting Great Blue Heron, with some sort of intent as it seemed deliberate, not sure if the goose was posturing or was surprised to find the heron there as moments before it flew up the nest appeared to be empty (from where I was standing). Sturgeon County.
No hunting here
The flooded Big Lake Interpretive trail, of course in the fall hunting is permitted a short walk beyond this sign, curious for an area designated as a provincial park. Lois Hole Park, Sturgeon County.
Geese in a prairie field
Minimalist composition of what should be obvious by the title and subject matter! Sturgeon County
Snack time
A pair of Canada Geese snacking on last fall's barley harvest, stocking up after the long flight in from the south. Sturgeon County.
You walk I'll Swim
A pair of Canada Geese hanging out on the Sturgeon River. St Albert.
As time goes by
A pair of Canada Geese use the spring ice as a perch to watch the river run by. Sturgeon County
Our summer home
Not quite there yet but judging by the noise they were making as they flew in they were very happy to be here, first things first, look for grub. Sturgeon County
Spring arrives
Our local band of Canada Geese arrive on the first full day of spring, a little later than usual, not surprising though due to the very cold weather that started in February and continued into early March. Sturgeon County.
After the harvest
At dusk, Canada Geese feed on the left over grains from the harvest. Sturgeon County. (disclosure; distracting power lines removed)

Lift off
Snow Geese, having settled in a field close to our home in Sturgeon County, all seem to decide to fly off as one, one of nature's spectacles on our doorstep.
Fall migration of the Snow Geese
The Snow Geese seem a bit off course this year, lucky for us! Sturgeon County.
