After a couple of hours of wandering the bush, and not seeing much of anything, I decided to retrace a side path I had taken earlier, and up popped this guy, I think a juvenile Coopers Hawk. Persistence pays off! Sturgeon County. (The colouration of the wings is strange, I think it is glare off the harsh sunlight caused by moisture from the bush it flew out of)
As I was taking this shot (which is a fairly heavy crop) I thought this Red-tailed hawk was bringing a young coot from the lake back to it's own chick, but now, looking at the colouration and legs, I am not so sure what it could be. Maybe a Sora Rail chick?
A pair decided that just above a photographer walking his dog was quite the perfect spot to circle around and play their mating game. Sturgeon County.
