The crossing

Having emerged from the deep bush just a little way up the bank of the Sturgeon River from where I was standing this Bull Moose made his way to the opposite bank and then vanished as silently and quickly as he came. A magical moment. Sturgeon County.

Coyote

This young Coyote spent a good 15 minutes howling and yapping near the parking lot in Lois Hole Park before I showed up to take its photo. (I could hear it while I was walking the boardwalk)

Beaver Kits

Taking refuge on a raft of reeds during a period of high water in the spring run off on the Sturgeon River near the outfall of Big Lake, St Albert.

Second moose of the day with large areas of its hide having already molted. Taken through trees hence he splodgy blurred effects.

The Sturgeon River with returning Goldeneye waterfowl, and the resident Beaver making an appearance, in the sunshine and warmer temperatures

Blending in

This Coyote seemed to want to draw us off and keep our attention.

Deja Vu

This doesn't happen very often in wildlife photography, pretty much the same spot, more or less the same time of day, and likely the same Coyote, as the one I took a photo of a week ago, got a little closer this time, and didn't lose the dog either.

The look

This young bull moose was hanging out in the woods when I walked by with the dogs, he gave me a hard look before disappearing.

Together

A (probably) mating pair of Coyotes hang out on the ice during a warm break of the frigid winter weather. Looks like we are due for some babies in the spring.

This male Coyote led me away from his mate (who was sleeping on the ice) and posed with St Albert in the background, taken on Big Lake.
