Winter in Alberta can be a very muted experience colour-wise, lots of whites, greys, browns, blacks...but with an occasional Mountain Ash Tree to brighten up the place, taken in Sturgeon County during perfect golden light in the hour before sunset.

Well human ones anyway, our snow shoe tracks disturb the pristine snow on the Sturgeon River after a major snow fall. the moose, deer, coyotes, weasels and rabbits actually got here first!

    Cool flight

A chilly morning in early November, Big Lake has frozen over and I am able to walk on the edge of the lake to the bluffs overlooking the narrows where I found a pair of Bald Eagles "hanging out". I was too exposed to approach them but was able to get some long range shots with the trees providing an interesting background as they flew off.
